1th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry / Boston Volunteers Commemorative Medal
(Actual Size) In celebration of the founding of our organization, the BOSTON VOLUNTEERS has created a "G.A.R." style commemorative bronze medal, the front of which is engraved with an image of the 11th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Memorial Monument at Gettysburg and the Union Eagle, and is inscribed, "11th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, Army of the Potomac, 1861". The back of the medal is engraved with the BOSTON VOLUNTEERS logo, and is inscribed, "The Boston Volunteers, Founded 2000", and also has inscribed, "Alls Well That Ends Well", the motto which appears on the 11th Mass. Monument at Gettysburg, and "Third Corps", for which the 11th Mass. fought, under General Daniel Sickles, at Gettysburg. The medal is suspended from a red, white and blue ribbon.
